Corsicana Police Investigate Monday Night Shooting

According to a press release issued by Corsicana Police Chief Robert Johnson, Corsicana Police Dispatchers received a report of shots fired at the 600 block of N.26th Street. Corsicana Police Chief Robert Johnson stated in the press release, “The first officer arrived in the area approximately 3 minutes later. A search of the area failed to locate the shooter, nor were there any witnesses as to the exact location of where the shots were fired.”
Around 8:40 PM, CPD officers responded to reports at the 1600 block of W. 1st Avenue, just a half block away from initial call, regarding a female subject that had been shot in the torso. . During the preliminary investigation, the female victim had confronted the suspect about infidelity issues via text messages earlier in the evening and indicated that she had taken his gun and fired it several times in the yard. Reports stated, “When the suspect arrived home, he saw the weapon lying in the open and immediately retrieved it. The suspect advised that he took the weapon from the bed, at which time the victim attempted to gain control of the weapon. During the struggle, the weapon was discharged.”
CPD Chief Johnson stated, “Physical and electronic evidence was collected at the scene. The Corsicana Police Department’s Criminal Investigative Division is still conducting the investigation, and all findings at this point are preliminary.”
The name of the victim will not be released until November 9, 2022. The suspect, Marshall Miller Jr., was arrested and transported to the Navarro County Sheriff’s Office Jail where he is awaiting arraignment.
