The Boys and Girls Club of Greater Dallas were honored with a breakfast hosted by Navarro College on Friday, August 23rd. The colors were presented by the CHS ROTC and the star-spangled banner was intoned beautifully by the CHS Choir. The Boys and Girls Club is an exceptional program that focuses on helping children from difficult backgrounds reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens by offering resources and aides that many would likely not have access to otherwise.

The Breakfast of Champions served as a fundraiser to keep those resources accessible to children in need. With the amazing turnout this year, itโs no surprise that the auction alone brought in nearly $3000. Sponsors for the event included amazing businesses and influential members of the community such as Will Thompson, our District Attorney, Community National Bank, Polyguard, Stewart Insurance, Riot Platforms and so many more.
The guest speaker for The BGC was a previous member, Geolaina โJoโ Copeland who attributes her life and success to influences from the Boys and Girls Club, stating โIt was a beacon of light for me, in a very, very hard and dark community.โ Her speech went through the highlights of the programs influence on her life and her words held immeasurable power, drawing tears and faith and strength to the surface of many who heard it. Jo has dedicated her life to the church and to education, becoming a school administrator, a Ministry Director and then an author of the hard-hitting book โBroken Legacies: How to Stop Cycles of Family Dysfunctionโ. Every single individual that attended the Breakfast of Champions felt like a champion themselves when they left.
