BREAKING NEWS: New Years Day Home Invasion Investigated by Corsicana Police
In the early morning hours of New Years Day, witnesses reported a home invasion to Corsicana Police on South 20th Street.
Witnesses at the scene provided a comprehensive description of the suspect vehicle, enabling law enforcement officers to promptly identify and intercept it within minutes. Four individuals were subsequently taken into custody.
The investigation revealed that the suspects unlawfully entered the victims’ residence and assaulted the occupants using both physical force and firearms. The suspects then fled in the identified vehicle, which officers soon located and stopped. Multiple firearms were recovered from inside the vehicle, and all four individuals were arrested and charged with First-Degree Felony Burglary of a Habitation with Intent to Commit Assault or Other Felony.
The four suspects were transported to Navarro County Jail pending arraignment. Preliminary findings suggest this incident was a targeted attack related to an earlier encounter rather than a random act of violence.
Jonathan Camacho, 25, Julian Camacho, 24, Jose Guerrero, 35, and a 17 year old suspect were arrested for Burglary of a Habitation Intending Other Felony, which escalates this charge to a first degree felony, per Texas Penal Code 30.02(d-2).
The investigation is ongoing, and further charges may be forthcoming.
Corsicana Police Chief Robert Johnson stated in a press release, “I would like to commend the responding officers for their swift efforts in locating and detaining the suspects, as well as for their thorough initial investigation at the scene. Their work significantly streamlined the follow-up process and resulted in the removal of multiple firearms from the streets and out of the hands of individuals intending harm.”
More details will be reported in the January 7th issue of the NavCo Chronicle.
