The Navarro County Commissioners Court convened on Monday, November 10, for a regular session addressing topics such as fire safety, updates to property management policies, and infrastructure authorizations. No public comments were submitted for consideration.
During the meeting, commissioners evaluated the necessity of instituting a countywide burn ban in response to increasingly arid conditions; however, with anticipated rainfall in the coming weeks, no action was taken at this time. The Court emphasized that Navarro County continues to face a significant wildfire risk and encouraged residents to exercise ongoing vigilance.
In a notable resolution, the Court apportioned its 379 votes for the Navarro County Appraisal District Board of Directors by allocating 190 votes to Buster Atkeisson and distributing the remaining 189 votes among other candidates.
Additionally, the Court unanimously adopted a new internal protocol for managing unclaimed property, thereby establishing formal procedures for identifying, administering, and reporting assets held by the county.
Approval was also granted to Precinct Two for the procurement of a motor grader, which will support road maintenance and construction activities.
Additional actions included:
- A utility easement for Oncor on SW CR 2555 was approved.
- The proclamation to designate November 13, 2025, as Wade Wellness Services Day was accepted.
- A contract and quote from Motorola Solutions for Body/Patrol Vehicle Cameras for the Navarro County Sheriff’s Office received approval.
- Several utility easements for Lyte Fiber LLC were approved on SW CR 1120, 1140, 1090, 3115, 3120, 3135, 3130, and 3140, as well as NE CR 0120 and NE CR 2050.
- No action was taken regarding the utility easement presented for Oak Valley Lane for Oncor, since Navarro County lacks the authority to decide on municipality street matters.
