The children of Corsicana helped break ground on Thursday, August 29th, for the 22nd park in the city. This particular park will be unique in its creation as it was designed specifically for children with diverse needs and abilities.

Children with mobility issues, sensory processing difficulties or other challenges will now have a safe place to play without limitations.
The Impact Communities Sensory Park was the brain child of Curran Oakley, Navarro County Community Coalition Coordinator. She created a sensory park sub committee and brought the park to the Corsicana Parks Director, Sharla Allen. With the help of the committee, Curran Oakley, Sharla Allen, City Manager, Connie Standridge and Mayor Mike Fletcher and a generous donation from the Moran Foundation, the park will be under construction here in the near future. Soon, children of all abilities will be able to socialize and experience the joys of playing on equipment designed just for them.
The park will be located behind the spray park and next to the tennis courts in Community Park at 400 Oaklawn Avenue.
