At approximately 9:00 p.m. Thursday, the Corsicana Police Department Telecommunications Division received a 9-1-1 call from a man reporting that he had fatally shot both of his parents at their residence on West Park Row Boulevard. During the call, the adult male stated he remained at the scene and intended to take his own life.
Telecommunicators continued efforts to keep the caller on the line while officers were dispatched to the residence. During the conversation, the subject stated he had been using alcohol and narcotics and reiterated his intent to end his life. Upon officers’ arrival, the caller disconnected the call and shot himself.
Corsicana Police Chief Robert Johnson confirmed that both parents, who were in their 70s and 80s, and the subject, age 51, were deceased when officers arrived.
Chief Johnson stated in a press release, “This remains an active investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available and appropriate. We respectfully ask for privacy for all families impacted at this time.”
He continued, “On a personal note, the Corsicana Police Department extends its deepest condolences to those who are grieving. Grief carries no uniform shape, and healing has no fixed schedule. To all who loved those involved, we recognize the weight of this loss and the silence, and unanswered questions that it leaves behind. May the memories of better moments serve as anchors during an incredibly painful time.”
