Prior to the arrival of Corsicana Police Department officers, dispatchers received an additional call from a female reporting that she and her boyfriend had been robbed and that her boyfriend had sustained a gunshot wound to the hand. The caller advised that she was transporting the victim to the hospital in a personal vehicle.
Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement personnel located a male who had suffered a gunshot wound to the leg. Following an investigation conducted by patrol officers and detectives, including interviews with multiple witnesses, it was determined that the male with the gunshot wound to the leg was the suspect in the reported robbery.
Witness statements indicated that a female had taken possession of the firearm involved in the robbery and concealed it inside her apartment. A subsequent search of the apartment led to the recovery of the firearm used in the incident, as well as an additional firearm. The female was taken into custody and charged with Tampering/Fabricating with Physical Evidence.
The robbery victims told officers that the male suspect was a known associate and that they had gone to the location to provide him with a ride. After entering the back seat of their vehicle, the suspect allegedly attempted to take their wallets. A struggle over a firearm ensued, during which the weapon discharged, striking the male victim in the hand and the suspect in the leg.
The male suspect was transported to a Dallas-area hospital for treatment. The incident remains under investigation.
