Conservative Dan Hunt will officially be on the ballot to represent Texas House District 8 in the March 2026 Republican primary. Hunt has garnered 56 grassroots endorsements to date as he challenges establishment incumbent Cody Harris.
“Today, I went to Austin and officially filed to represent House District 8 in the Texas Legislature,” said Hunt.
“While Cody Harris has spent his four terms ignoring his constituents’ needs and playing political games, East Texas and our conservative values have been abandoned. I’m running to be our communities’ voice in Austin and deliver real results through strong, conservative leadership.”
In the 2025 session of the Texas House of Representatives alone, Cody Harris voted with every House Democrat to limit free speech, gave billions of dollars in corporate welfare, and massively expanded government spending while Texans suffer astronomical property taxes.
“We’ve spent the last few months traveling the district, meeting with community leaders and hearing the concerns of East Texas,” continued Hunt. “They are ready for someone who will represent our values – and I am beyond grateful to have the endorsement of so many leaders and community members as we head into 2026.”
Dan Hunt has dedicated his career to defending Texans’ constitutional rights, fighting for justice in the court room, and serving his community. As the former Chairman of the Henderson County Republican Party and Committeeman representing East Texas on the State Republican Executive Committee, Hunt has a long history of standing up for conservative values and furthering the mission of the Republican Party.
The primary election for Texas House District 8 will be held on March 3, 2026.
