Early this morning, Navarro County Sheriff’s Office Deputies took former CISD Board Member and former Rector at St. John’s Episcopal Church Ed Monk into custody.
The arrest comes after a convened Navarro County Grand Jury on this past Thursday indicted Monk on charges of Theft over $300K, Fraud in the 3rd Degree, and Credit Card abuse.
Corsicana Police Chief Robert Johnson stated, “This investigation has been extensive, and although the suspect has been indicted, we are still in the process of gathering additional evidence through a joint effort led by the Corsicana Police Department, the Navarro County District Attorney’s office, and the Texas Office of the Attorney General.”
Monk has also served on the Navarro County Appraisal Board as the Vice Chairman until just before Thanksgiving when he issued his resignation to Chief Appraiser Bud Black.
Chief Johnson stated, “We would like to extend our gratitude to the vestry at St. John’s Episcopal Church and Episcopal Diocese of Dallas for their cooperation throughout this process.”
This case is still considered to be ongoing and the NavCo Chronicle will release more information as it becomes available.
