Over last weekend, the Navarro County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to a smash and grab burglary that occurred at the I-45 Quick Stop, located on I-45 South in Streetman.
During the investigation, NCSO deputies were led to an additional burglary which occurred on W Reunion Street in Fairfield, Texas, with the same MO as the Streetman burglary.
On Wednesday, NCSO CID Detectives with assistance from the Freestone County Sheriff’s Office deputies located and apprehended two teenagers suspected to be involved in the two burglaries. After the subjects were taken into custody, NCSO detectives located numerous vape devices believed to be stolen from the Quick Stop in Streetman.
NCSO Sheriff Elmer Tanner stated, “The Navarro County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank everyone involved with this investigation as well as the assistance of the Fairfield ISD Police Chief and the Freestone County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance.”
Jacob Paul Hagen (above), 17, and Justin Taylor Nesbitt (below), 17, were taken into custody by Navarro County detectives and transported to the Navarro County Justice Center. The teens were arraigned by Navarro County Justice of the Peace Darrell Waller with $10,000.00 bonds each.
Freestone County Sheriff Jeremy Shipley stated, “It was Navarro County’s case, and we were just happy to be able to assist them in making the arrest and closing the case. Freestone County Sheriff’s Office has a great working relationship with our surrounding counties, and we look forward to continuing that teamwork for the betterment of our counties and our citizens.”
Further investigation of this case could lead to additional charges, in both counties.

This is a great example of agencies working together for the safety of the community we serve.“
