Members of the Park High School alumni met Saturday afternoon at the Goodlow Community Center in Goodlow, to enjoy fellowship and food with guests who are interested in getting a historical marker for the only remaining Rosenwald School building left in Navarro County.
The building is currently being used as the Goodlow City Hall and as a community center.

Also, in attendance, were members of the Navarro County Historical Commission, who have partnered with the newly formed organization to help pay for half of the cost of the marker.
Thus far, the group has raised nearly half of the cost to get a marker erected. However, the process does take at least three years to complete.
The group is hoping to have future meetings to discuss another project in which the building needs substantial foundation repair. They are hoping to pursue a grant to obtain at least half of the proposed $22,000 needed to have the work done in order to keep the structure preserved for future generations.
Park High School was located in the community of Park, just a mile or so south of the City of Kerens. When the community was incorporated in the 1960s, the name was changed to Goodlow.
More information will be provided here in the NavCo Chronicle at a future date, and further details will be unveiled concerning both projects.
The former Park High School is also one of about 30 such Rosenwald School buildings left in the State of Texas.
