Richland City council members discussed a need for potentially making updates to building regulations, as well as possibly re-zoning a commercial lot, while also recognizing a member of law enforcement that went above and beyond the call of duty at this month’s city council meeting.
The Navarro County District Attorney Will Thompson wanted to bring to the attention of council members of a 911 call that he was able to listen to in which a local officer was able to make an arrest on a sexual assault call after being dispatched to a gated property.
Despite the gate hindering his entry, the officer proceeded to the home and effectively stopped the assault in progress.
Discussion items included a request for potentially changing a zoning designation from commercial to residential and council members also brought up the idea of looking into building guidelines to expand for more affordable options. Both of which the council agreed to look into at the next meeting.
