Angus fire department’s own Jerry Newsome and wife Kim were on site serving hot dogs to many of DPS Trooper Putz’s brothers and sisters in law enforcement, Texas Towing, and many officials.

What began as a way to give back to the community, Navarro County Commissioner Jason Grant approached Commissioner Eddie Perry about hosting a hot dog luncheon to raise much needed funds to help the Putz Family. It didn’t take long for Commissioner Precinct 4 David Brewer and Commissioner Precinct 3 Eddie Moore to jump on board!

Many officers and deputies in the Navarro County Law Enforcement community attended the event, including retired Texas Ranger Clayton Smith, survivor of the dangers our officers face in the line of duty. Mr. Smith was shot during a traffic stop in 1975 in Corsicana.

The event was held on the 12th Street side of the Navarro County Courthouse and was well attended and raised necessary funds to assist Trooper Putz and his family as he heals from the accident back in January.

Commissioner Eddie Perry stated, “We are always happy to do what we can for our law enforcement community and the Putz Family!”
