The 100 West–Corsicana Artist and Writer Residency welcomes back singer/songwriter/musician Alex Dupree, who was a resident there in the 2018 season, to perform a one-night show at the downtown Corsicana Opry on Friday, September 27. Doors open at 7 p.m., the show begins at 8 p.m., $15 cover.
In anticipation of the release of his new vinyl album You Winsome, You Lonesome, Austin-born and based Dupree is undertaking an extensive tour of Texas, playing more than 20 shows in smaller venues around the state. “That’s bringing me to a lot of smaller communities, and there are just a lot more people living outside the major cities, doing cool things, and 100 West in Corsicana is very much included in that,” Dupree says.
The tour takes its name from the first single on You Winsome, You Lonesome: “Texas Doesn’t Care.” Dupree’s first album, “Thieves is a sprawling and narrative record; You Winsome, You Lonesome has some country flourishes in the song structures and kinds of storytelling,” he says. Of the single, Dupree says, “It’s a song about coming home and the perverse comfort of knowing that, no matter what has happened, Texas will always welcome you back. Because Texas doesn’t care.”
