On Monday, the city of Corsicana held their first council meeting of the year.
The Corsicana council chambers were decorated for Valentine’s Day, and all council members were in high spirits, congratulating council member Chris Woolsey on the birth of his son.
The board approved the Corsicana Municipal general election to be held Saturday, May 2, 2026.
This year seats in Precincts 1 and 2 are up for re-election. Councilman, Jim Pannell, currently the Council Member for Precinct 1, announced a listening session to be held on January 28th at 5pm.
This event will be held at Across the Street Diner in downtown Corsicana; all are welcome and encouraged to attend.
Mayor Joe Hill announced January 19 as Martin Luther King Jr Day, therefore the city offices will be closed and will reopen for regular business operating hours on Tuesday, January 20th.
Council Member Shayla Johnson added the NAACP will be hosting a MLK event on January 19 beginning with a walk at 10:00 AM from Bunert Park to the MLK Center where Tennis Manning will offer a keynote speech.
