In a heartwarming development for the Corsicana community, the Corsicana Girl Scouts Troop 04276 has officially opened its doors at Angus Baptist Church, marking a new chapter for the troop since its beginning in January 2025.
Initially, the troop met at the Corsicana Central Fire Station, a conference room that served them well during their early days. Under the leadership of Troop Leader Robin Ratliff and Co-Leader Raquel Doak, the troop has seen substantial growth, now boasting eight active girls and four dedicated adult volunteers. As the troops expanded, it became clear that a larger meeting space was essential to accommodate their activities and further their development.
The Corsicana Central Fire Station played a crucial role in the troop’s beginnings, providing a space for their meetings. The leaders and scouts express deep gratitude for the support they received from the fire station, acknowledging it as a vital steppingstone in their journey.
The idea to reach out to Angus Baptist Church came to Troop Leader Robin Ratliff during the church’s first annual Trunk or Treat event on October 29. With family members and some of the scouts already connected to the church, Robin saw an opportunity to create a more familiar and supportive environment for the girls. She approached Pastor Terry Winge, suggesting that the church might allow the troop to utilize its facilities. Not only would this provide the necessary space for their growing needs, but it would also allow for outdoor activities and the possibility of storing their materials on-site.
Pastor Terry responded positively, discussing the request with the congregation present at the event. Following a brief confirmation at church the following Sunday, November 2, the church community rallied behind the idea, eager to support the Girl Scouts.
On November 4, the Corsicana Girl Scouts held their first meeting in their new “home” at Angus Baptist Church. The transition was met with enthusiasm and excitement, as the scouts embraced their new surroundings and the warm support of their community. The spacious location not only provided ample room for meetings but also fostered an inviting atmosphere that resonated with the girls.
As the Corsicana Girl Scouts embark on this new chapter, they look forward to building lasting memories in their new home, while continuing to grow as a troop and engage with the community. With the support of Angus Baptist Church, the future looks bright for Troop 04276, promising countless adventures and opportunities for growth, learning, and friendship.
This collaboration between the Girl Scouts and Angus Baptist Church exemplifies the spirit of community support and cooperation, setting a wonderful precedent for future partnerships in Corsicana.
