On Saturday evening, around 9 P.M., Corsicana Police Officers responded to multiple reports of shots fired in the vicinity of 700 Block of West 11th Avenue, the same location of a drive by shooting that occurred on Friday Night – where two individuals were injured.
Corsicana Police Officers, who were on a separate special assignment in the area, intercepted a suspect vehicle near South 15th Street and West 10th Avenue, within one minute of receiving the call.
The suspect vehicle fled, prompting a vehicle pursuit between CPD Officers and the suspects, according to a press release issued by CPD Chief Robert Johnson. He stated, “The pursuit ended in the 2100 Block of West 11th Avenue, when the three suspects jumped from the vehicle before it came to a full stop and striking a tree.”
Two suspects immediately fled the scene, but were apprehended after a short foot chase. One of the fleeing suspects was injured while fleeing and was transported to Navarro Regional Hospital for treatment. The third suspect was placed into custody and did not flee the impact scene.
Chief Johnson stated, “Officers recovered two firearms, which were equipped with devices converting them to fully automatic weapons. All three suspects have extensive criminal histories and are expected to face a multitude of felony charges as the investigation progresses.”
The NavCo Chronicle expects more information after the suspects are arraigned at the Navarro County Justice Center, likely additional charges, including revocation of probation.
The Chronicle will update with more information as it is received.
