At the most recent Navarro County Commissioners Court session, held on Monday, officials from across the county gathered to address several important matters impacting the local community. The meeting covered a wide range of topics, including updates on county child welfare services, extensions of depository contracts, and road right-of-way agreements.

One of the key highlights was a discussion on the Tax Abatement agreement between Navarro County and Armadillo Solar. Originally established in 2020 when the project was under the ownership of Ørsted Onshore North America LLC, the agreement has since transitioned to AES | Global Energy Companies, which assumed control of the project in 2024.
Daniel Henry, a representative from AES, provided the court with an update on the project’s status and an adjusted timeline. Due to unforeseen delays related to a shift from EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) to a higher-quality EBC (Early Bird Construction) model, the project’s completion date has been pushed to 2026, beyond the original target of late 2025.
In addition to the Armadillo Solar Project, the court also reviewed infrastructure proposals involving 3 M Contracting LLC. One such project, in coordination with the City of Emhouse, involves installing a 3-inch water line from NW CR 1120 to NW CR 1130 to facilitate water transfer across the roadway. The court also approved a separate request from MEN Water Supply and 3 M Contracting to cross SE CR 1090 and SE CR 1095 in Precinct 3 for similar water line installations.
