Corsicana’s economic development meeting held on Tuesday, January 6th, included a major business announcement alongside updates on housing, downtown development, education, and chamber activities.
City leaders announced that Oegg Inc., a food innovation company specializing in clean-label, high-protein ready-to-eat products, plans to locate operations in Corsicana. The company intends to utilize a previously used food industry building located off Jester Drive near East Highway 31. Oegg Inc. brings more than 15 years of experience in egg product development, supply chain operations, and global expansion within the food products industry.
The company’s product line includes soft-boiled eggs, braised eggs, and baked products. Tentative plans call for the facility to open in 2027. Once operational, the company is expected to create more than 100 jobs and inject over $6 million into the local economy.
Aric Bonner provided an update on Navarro County’s housing market, noting a dip in housing inventory that has shifted conditions toward a seller’s market. Bonner reported a 27 percent increase in home closings in November compared to November 2024, marking a notable rise in activity.
Planning and zoning updates reflected no significant changes from the previous month, with the exception of one new certificate of occupancy issued to TMC Insurance.
Amy Tidwell, executive director of Corsicana’s downtown development, highlighted continued success in tourism and travel marketing efforts. Corsicana has recently appeared in several statewide publications encouraging visitors from outside the area to explore the city. Tidwell invited residents to participate in a downtown forum on January 15th from 5–7 p.m. at the Corsicana Public Library, where community members can provide input, suggestions, and receive information on upcoming downtown festivities.
Representatives from Navarro College shared progress on the construction of the new Albritton Building, which remains on schedule to reopen in September. The project includes a new community room that will be available for public use.
Ken Higdon, president of the Corsicana Chamber of Commerce, updated attendees on chamber activities and encouraged community participation in annual business and civic awards. “Each of you have a business that you believe is one of the best businesses in town. We every year honor the large business of the year, the small business of the year, the not for profit of the year, citizen of the year and volunteer of the year. Vote at Corsicana.org.”
Higdon also announced that the chamber will host a candidate forum for the upcoming spring election on January 15th at 5:15 p.m., providing residents an opportunity to hear from and ask questions of candidates seeking local office.
