Corsicana Fire Rescue: Interim Fire Chief Named

Corsicana Fire Rescue Assistant Fire Chief Wade Gillen has been named the interim Fire Chief beginning on October 15th after the departure of current Fire Chief Paul Henley. 
Gillen has served the community of Corsicana for 18 years as a firefighter/paramedic, Fire Prevention Captain, and most recently as Assistant Fire Chief and Fire Marshal for the City of Corsicana since 2014.
The City of Corsicana has begun the process of hiring a new Fire Chief and will interview potential candidates according to Civil Service Commission guidelines.  The Civil Service Commission is charged with providing recruitment and selection of all police officers and firefighters / EMTs for the City of Corsicana. It coordinates all testing mandated by the State of Texas.  According to the City of Corsicana’s website, this commission shall make such rules and regulations for the proper conduct of its business as it shall find necessary and expedient, provided that no rules or regulations shall ever be adopted which will permit the appointment or employment of any person: Incompetent to discharge the duties of such appointment or employment; unfit mentally or physically; and without good moral character. 
Currently serving on the Civil Service Commission board are Jon Ketcham, Ramon Thomas, and Lee Lewis.  The prerequisites of serving on this commission are:  good moral character, a resident citizen of Corsicana of more than three years, over the age of 25 years, and not have held any public office within the preceding three years.
