During the Freestone County Commissioners Court meeting held on August 20, 2025, several key topics were addressed.
First, the commissioners reviewed the FY 2026 Annual Bid list and agreed to solicit bids for road & base materials, bulk fuel, and solid waste services.
Following this, they conducted a budget review, held a public hearing, and subsequently adopted the budget. A copy of the proposed budget is available on file with the County Clerk and can be viewed on the county’s website at http://www.co.freestone.tx.us.
The court also considered and approved salary adjustments and longevity pay increases effective October 1, 2025.
Notable changes include:
- An increase of $5,387.63 for the district attorney’s salary.
- Longevity pay for Commissioner Pct. No. 2 starting at $210.00.
- Longevity pay for the county clerk beginning at $235.00.
- An increase of $60 in longevity pay for Commissioners’ Pct. No. 1 & 3, Constables Pct. No. 3 & 4, the Tax Assessor/Collector, and J.P. Pct. No. 3.
Finally, the court approved the tax rate of .3335 and authorized the tax assessor/collector to assess and collect taxes based on this rate.
Other issues discussed were:
- Public hearing for the plan for the County Clerk’s Archive Fund
- Plan for the County Clerk’s Archive Fund
- Election judges and alternate judges are still needed.
