Both Subjects In Custody, After Receiving Citizen Tip

Just before 5:00 PM on Tuesday evening, Richland Police received a dispatch of a stolen car originating at JJ’s Liquor Store in Angus. Accompanied by the stolen Toyota Tacoma, a Black Tahoe, which was also reported stolen from Missouri, was reported traveling at a high rate of speed on I-45 South.
Richland Police Chief Tracy Robinson received the report at his position on I-45S at mile marker 218, and Sergeant Register at his position at the 220. Chief Tracy Robinson stated, “Upon visualization of the Black Tahoe, I attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle failed to stop.”
According to police, the stolen Tacoma crossed onto the northbound side of Interstate 45 still heading south at speeds totaling 120 miles per hour. Crossing counties, Freestone County deputies assisted in the attempt to stop the vehicle, until it ultimately wrecked at the Freestone County Exit 189 in the Dew community. The suspect exited the vehicle and escaped into a wooded area just off of the interstate.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as Rene Lein Thomas, was apprehended, and arrested in Leon County. Thomas has since been transported to the Navarro County Justice Center.
Chief Robinson stated, “I would like to thank the Texas Department of Public Safety, Freestone County deputies, Constables Buck Bonner and Richard McGowan, and TDCJ K-9 Units for their assistance.”
Just before 8 A.M. on Wednesday, Freestone County deputies have located and have the fleeing subject, now identified as Victor Salvador in custody. According to Richland Police Chief Robinson, Richland will be transporting the subject to the Navarro County Justice Center today.
