On Tuesday afternoon, Corsicana Police were notified of a suspect which had entered
the Sunoco gas station, located on 7th Avenue. Upon arrival, the victim informed police that the
male suspect was displaying a handgun and immediately struck her with the firearm
multiple times.
The suspect fled the scene with cash and a the clerk’s cell phone. An examination of the surveillance footage revealed that the suspect fled in a full sized white Ford van. According to the CPD officers on scene, the suspect was identified as a Corsicana resident who had multiple outstanding felony warrants.
During the investigation, it was revealed that a similar robbery had occurred in the City of Ennis. Officers identified the suspect and vehicle in that robbery as well.
In a 12-hour investigation, Corsicana police recovered the suspect vehicle near Veterans Drive in Corsicana. During routine patrol, a CPD officer located the suspect on West Park Row, who immediately fled upon viewing the officer, entering the rear door of a relative’s residence.
Corsicana Police secured a perimeter and safely removed an elderly female from the residence. During the search of the female’s residence, police determined the suspect had fled to the attic, to which the suspect remained hidden behind storage clutter.
The suspect was apprehended by police and transported to the Navarro County Justice Center.
CPD Chief Robert Johnson stated in a press release on Wednesday morning, “Since the time of his arrest, the suspect has confessed to the robberies in Corsicana and Ennis and corroborative evidence of the robbery was also recovered. The arrested suspect will not be identified by this agency until after he is arraigned by a magistrate.”
