
The Richland Police Department received a sexual assault case that was transferred from the Dallas
Police Department. After an investigation, it was determined that the offense began in the City of
Dallas on or about March 7, 2020.
The suspect, Robert Lee Weathered, 42 year old black male and Dallas resident, transported the victim, a then-22-year-old Latin female and a resident of Farmers Branch, from a Deep Ellum restaurant against her will in his vehicle to a rental property in the City of Streetman, Freestone County, where he then committed the offense of Sexual Assault. Three felony warrants were obtained seeking the suspect’s arrest, charging him with the offenses of Aggravated Kidnapping, Sexual Assault and Unlawful Restraint.
On Tuesday, March 8, 2022, officers from the Richland Police Department, with the cooperation and
support of the Dallas Police Department, met with the suspect at the South Central Division
substation, where he was taken into custody without incident. The suspect was transported to the
Dallas County Sheriff’s Office Lew Sterrett Justice Center and subsequently transferred to the
Navarro County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center, where he is currently awaiting arraignment.
Richland Chief of Police David Smith stated in an interview with The NavCo Chronicle, “I am very proud of Sergeant Fox Luu and Officer Danielle Lee-Winston during the course of the investigation.”
Justice of the Peace Jackie Freeland arraigned Weathered on Saturday morning with bonds totaling $475,000.00.
